Sting was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016
Wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer ‘The Hooligan’ Sting announced on an episode of AEW Dynamite that he would be retiring from in-ring competition in 2024. Sting was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 2, 2016.
The Hooligan made his first appearance at AEW in late 2020. He finished his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) career with an undefeated streak of 29 fights after his debut in 2020. He was aligned with Darby Allin for most of his AEW stint.
In his final match at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view back in March 2024, The Hooligan teamed with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks and retain the AEW Tag Team titles.
The WWE Hall of Famer stayed away from the spotlight since his retirement. However, At All In on August 25, 2024, Sting made his post-retirement appearance to save his former tag team partner Allin from being lit on fire by Jack Perry and The Elite.
Sting has signed a ‘Legends deal’ with the AEW
In a recent conversation with The David Difference from Kayfabe Friends, The Wrestling legend provided an update on his wrestling career stating that he has signed a new contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Sting further elaborated that he has signed a ‘legends deal ‘ with the promotion and will not wrestle anymore. However, he will make appearances from time to time in the promotion.
“I signed a multi-year deal with AEW, obviously not to wrestle anymore, but it’s like a licensing deal, a legends deal if you want to call it that. So I’ll do appearances with them on and off, depending on what they want and all.” The Hooligan stated.
The Hooligan also expressed his love for real estate and stated that he will continue to invest in the sector post-retirement. “I’ve done real estate, I did real estate before I ever was a pro wrestler, so I’ve always loved real estate.”
After making his debut in 1985 The Hooligan seems to be done with competing in pro-wrestling at the age of 65. Sting has had a long and illustrious career holding 26 total championships including 22 between WCW, TNA, and AEW.
Sting has entertained fans and terrorized his fellow wrestlers in the ring for decades. He has given some of the greatest moments that will be remembered by fans even after his retirement.
