On AEW Dynamite edition of 10th April 2024, the Young Bucks finally rose the curtains from the most controversial event in Pro-Wrestling history that happened between the Best in the World CM Punk and the jungle boy Jack Perry. Although some initially believed this to be a spoof sketch by the Jacksons, Fightful Select has verified that this was, in fact, the actual footage.
The Young Bucks opened the part backstage, teasing their rivalry with FTR in the plot. The Bucks gave some background information before talking about their next battle at AEW Dynasty vs FTR, which will determine the new Tag Team Champions.
What did the Young Bucks say?
They also talked about their previous matchup with the Jacksons, which happened at All In following the brawl. Then, the former Tag Team Champions discussed the circumstances leading up to the backstage “incident.”
Referring to Punk as “the other individual” and someone who is “good friends with FTR,” the Bucks named Jack Perry as “The Scapegoat” and said that FTR may be the masterminds behind the event, intending to put them off their game before the title battle.
What happened in the video?
In the video that was played as said by the Young Bucks, what was visible but not audible was that Before Punk emerges on stage, Perry is seen backstage. A brief exchange unfolds between them before Punk forcefully pushes Perry and ensnares him in a chokehold.
The situation intensifies as Chris Hero and Jerry Lynn rush in on one side, while Samoa Joe and Hook Perry move to intervene on the other. In the midst of the scuffle, monitors are sent crashing to the ground, heightening the tension. Punk’s voice could be seen echoing with shouts, pointing out individuals believed to be Tony Khan, obscured behind the fallen screens. Abruptly, the footage ends as Punk exits the scene.
The Young Bucks’ sudden appearance served as a direct response to CM Punk’s interview with Ariel Helwani, where he recounted his version of the events during the Brawl In. Regrettably for AEW and Tony Khan, the footage largely corroborated CM Punk’s narrative. Engaging in a one-sided skirmish that lasted mere seconds before the intervention, CM Punk’s demeanour exuded even more resilience than previously perceived.
