Dan Jefferson appointed head of strength & conditioning for BFI

The coach was previously plying his trade at JSW’s Inspire Institute of Sports in Bellary, Karnataka.
The boxing national camp in Patiala will be welcoming a new addition in the form of coach Dan Jefferson. The Sports Authority of India has given the green light for the appointment of the Scot at the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). He will play the role of the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the federation.
So far, Jefferson was plying his trade at JSW’s Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS) in Bellary, Karnataka, where he was working at close quarters with some of the country's top boxers like Vikas Krishan Yadav and Satish Kumar. At the same time, he also took care of their boxing programme. However, he seems to have landed himself a new job in the boxing circuit in India.
“He is now working with the boxing federation. When the boxers had a camp at IIS, they struck a good relationship with Jefferson. He is now at NIS (National Institute of Sports in Patiala),” a source told the Times of India.
Nevertheless, Jefferson has shown restrain in revealing any details, awaiting permission from the authorities before publicly confirming the move. “Actually, I need to wait for confirmation from the Boxing Federation before I speak to any media. Once I have a confirmation, I will be able to speak to you,” Jefferson told TOI when they got in contact with him.
Although, Jefferson might have inadvertently confirmed his departure from the ISS, whom he had joined back in April 2019 if his LinkedIn bio is anything to go by. On his profile, it indicates that Jefferson has began work with the Sports Authority of India from August 2020.

His bio reads, “Strength and Conditioning coach at the Boxing Federation of India, leading on the national boxing programmes for men and women senior teams and junior development programme. Previously at Inspire Institute of Sport leading on their boxing programme.”
Dan Jefferson is already in Patiala and will be hoping to make a difference in his new role by helping the athletes to maintain peak fitness ahead of the Tokyo Olympics next year.
