Archery Asia Cup 2023 Stage 3 Singapore: India finish campaign with seven medals

Indian shooters clinched six silvers and one bronze in a comprehensive outing.

India finished an eventful campaign by claiming seven medals (silver - six and bronze - one) at the Archery Asia Cup 2023 stage 3 in Singapore held between 05 to 10 June, 2023. Parth Salunke and Ruma Biswas bagged silver medals in men's and women's recurve individual respectively.

Parth, 19, had a good run en route to the final, defeating Won Sung Tin, Uzbekistan’s Amirkhan Sadikov, Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel, and Wang Dapeng of China. The youngster lost to Qi Xiangshuo from China (2-6). Meanwhile, Ruma Biswas en route to the final, eliminated Hussa Yaqoub Ahmed Alawadhi, Great Britain’s Kim Lavender, Koreas Han Sol, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi, and China's Qiu Muyan. Like compatriot Parth, she lost to China's An Qixuan (6-2) and settled for silver.

In the team events, the women's recurve team were close to winning the gold medal but lost (3-5) to Korea. In an all India clash, Pragati defeated teamate Deepshikha (147-146) to win the individual women’s compound bronze.

India qualified to the finals of Archery Asia Cup 2023 in six events (including individual and team events). None of the them could win a gold with all the finalist suffering defeats. Also India has sent a second string team (young squad) with the likes of Jayantha Talukdar and Abhishek Verma too missing out who had earlier taken part in the Asia Cup.
