Asian Games 2023: Indian women's recurve archery team clinch bronze

This is the first medal won by the recurve contingent at the ongoing Continental meet.
Indian archers Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur won bronze medal in the women’s recurve archery team event at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 after defeating the Vietnam with a set point score of 6-2.
The match began with the Indian team taking an early advantage in the first set, scoring 56 points compared to Vietnam's 52. However, the opposition displayed resilience and managed to equalize the set with a score of 2-2, as India achieved 55 points in response to Vietnam's 56.
In the following two rounds, the Indian team achieved a score of 57 and 51 respectively, while the Vietnam team managed to score 50 and 48. With three set wins, resulting in a total of six points, the Indian trio concluded the match with a lead of four points, ultimately securing the bronze medal.
In the initial phase of the competition, the Indian women's team commenced their campaign by achieving a significant 6-2 triumph over the Japanese opponents during the quarterfinals round. They displayed exceptional performance, securing six points through three triumphant sets, while their Japanese counterparts managed to secure victory in only one set.
In the semifinals, India competed against the mighty South Korean team. The match commenced with the South Korean team securing victory in the first two sets, with scores of 56 and 57, while India achieved 54 in both sets.
In a remarkable turn of events, India made a tremendous comeback in the third set with a score of 57, outperforming their South Korean opponents who lagged behind with a score of 55.
However, fate took a different turn in the final set as the South Korean team regained their momentum, ultimately concluding the match with a score line of (6-2). Consequently, the South Korean team advanced to the final stage of the competition.
