Exclusive: Khalid Aucho and Gerard Williams set to sign for Churchill Brothers
The Red Machines are building a strong squad for the next season.
It looks like the All India Football Federation has already given the green light for Churchill Brothers to play in I-League 2018-19 as the management has already started to prepare for the next season and they are close to signing Ugandan international Khalid Aucho. The midfielder was part of the East Bengal squad in the 2018 Super Cu[p.
The 30-year-old midfielder who can also be utilised as a defensive midfielder has played for Serbian side OFK Beograd before joining East Bengal last season. It is learnt that Aucho has agreed terms with the Goan club and papers have been sent to the Ugandan.
“He has agreed to play for us. Everything is done from our side. We have sent him the agreement papers and are waiting for his initials which is most likely to be done in the next few days,” a source close to the club told Khel Now.
It has also been learnt that the club is in talks with Saint Kitts and Nevis international Gerard Williams. The 29-year-old midfielder was part of the national side which participated in the Tri-Nations Series in India last year. Williams has played for Trinidad and Tobago side W Connection FC where he wore the armband for his side.

Apart from these midfielders, the management has also retained the services of Trinidadian striker Willis Plaza, Lebanese defender Hussein Eldor and Gambian central midfielder Dawda Ceesay from last season.
[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Churchill Brothers finished 9th in the I-League last season with just 17 points from 18 matches and were relegated from the league, but the club's present movements to sign foreigner players point towards something different.
In the 2015-16 season, former champions Aizawl FC were also relegated, but the AIFF decided to keep them in the league due to the withdrawal of Goan clubs. So, the same can be expected this time around as Churchill were the only representative from the football-loving state in the last campaign.
