Asian Games 2023 Day 6, September 29, Updated Results: Kiran Baliyan and men's badminton team clinch historic medals
India has won a total of 33 medals till now in the continental meet.
On the sixth day of the Asian Games 2023, Indian shooters shone brightly, securing several medals. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kushale, and Akhil Sheoran achieved a world record to clinch the men's 50m rifle 3 positions shooting team gold medal. Aishwary also added an individual silver to his tally, amassing four medals in Hangzhou. In the women's 10m air pistol shooting, teenagers Palak Gulia and Esha Singh impressed with a one-two finish, and along with Divya TS, they secured the team silver.
In tennis, Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan settled for silver in the men's doubles final, while Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale advanced to the mixed doubles final. Kiran Baliyan earned India's first athletics medal, a bronze, with a superb throw. Indian squash witnessed mixed results, with the women's team securing a bronze, and the men's team reaching the final against Pakistan.
In boxing, Nikhat Zareen secured an Olympic quota and an Asian Games 2023 medal for India in the women's 50kg category, with a quick victory over Jordan's Hanan Nassar. Indian badminton had a noteworthy day as the men's team, featuring Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen, secured their first Asiad medal since 1986. However, the PV Sindhu-led women's team exited in the quarter-finals against Thailand.
The Indian women's hockey team continued their impressive form, winning 6-0 against Malaysia following a massive 13-0 victory against Singapore in the opener.
