India has won a total of 52 medals till date in the continental event

On a dramatic eighth day at the Asian Games 2023, India had an impressive haul of 15 medals, including three gold, seven silver, and five bronze. Athletics took the spotlight in this remarkable success.

Avinash Sable set a new Asian Games record as he comfortably claimed India's first men's 3000m steeplechase gold medal at the continental meet. Tajinderpal Singh Toor successfully defended his men's shot put crown in Hangzhou. Jyothi Yarraji secured a dramatic silver in the women's 100m hurdles, benefitting from China's Wu Yanni's disqualification for a false start.

Harmilan Bains and Murali Sreeshankar won silver in women's 1500m and men's long jump, respectively. Ajay Kumar Saroj and Jinson Johnson achieved second and third place in the men's 1500m event. Discus thrower Seema Punia and heptathlon athlete Nandini Agasara both settled for bronze medals in their respective events, adding to India's impressive medal tally at the Asian Games.

Ashish Limaye and horse Willy Be Dun, who led on Saturday, faced elimination in the equestrian eventing cross-country round 

Apurva Dabhade finished sixth with 29.60 penalty points while Vikas Kumar was ranked 16th with 41.20 penalty points. The Indian team are fifth, the last position, in the standings.

Team India (Women’s Team Round 4) – finish 4th. Avani Prashanth, Pranavi Sharath, Aditi Ashok (Women’s Individual Round 4) – Aditi Ashok clinches silver, Pranavi Sharath finishes 13th and Pranavi Prasanth T18
