Close to 300 athletes from Malaysia are set to take part in the Continental meet.
The 19th edition of the Asian Games is all set for its opening ceremony. The Asiad will be held in the eastern part of China in Hangzhou and will use 54 venues for multiple sports to be played across the city. This will be the third time that the People's Republic of China will be hosting the continental games after hosting it in 1990 and 2010.
China is not just the host, but it is also the most successful nation at the Asian Games and has more than 300 medals to their name and will want to add more to their tally. The nation is all set to host the biggest ever Asian Games in the history of the competition as this year nearly 12,500 athletes have come from 45 different countries to participate in the medal games.
The Asiad is said to be the second largest multi-sport event across the globe and this year it has only got better. The Continental meet will host 61 disciplines in 40 sports for the next two weeks. And with an approach to engage more young citizens, the 2023 Asian Games has announced a landmark move that will see the debut of E-Sports and breakdancing.
Where will the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 Opening Ceremony take place?
The opening ceremony of the Asiad will be held in China’s Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. Often known as the Big Lotus, the stadium is China’s state-of-the-art facility. The stadium has a massive seating capacity of 80,000 and has the ability to host multiple sports.
