PSG have decided to release Lee Kang-in to join South Korea for the 2022 Asian Games.

Lee transferred from Spanish club Mallorca to the French champions in the summer for an estimated 22 million euros ($23.5 million), but his injured thigh kept him out for a period of four weeks this past week.

The 22-year-old has "mostly recovered," South Korea coach Hwang Sun-hong told journalists at the National Football Centre in Paju, and will be relieved after the player has been allowed to join the national team.

Tuesday's matchup between South Korea and Kuwait at the Asian Games in the Chinese city of Hangzhou will mark the start of their quest for a third consecutive men's football gold medal.

Kang-in had a strong debut season in La Liga after joining Mallorca on a free transfer in 2021.He participated in 39 games this season, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.

Top European clubs are showing interest in the 22-year-old due to his exceptional performances.Although Atletico Madrid expressed interest, PSG quickly acquired the midfielder.

For the teenage South Korean international, PSG made Mallorca a proposal of €15 million, which was €3 million higher than Atletico.

This dilemma for Paris Saint-Germain is intriguing. They might perhaps have him accessible later in his career, once he is in his peak and is more accustomed to Paris, Ligue 1, and his colleagues if they forgo three games this season.

Adaptable Kang-In In July, Lee moved to RCD Mallorca for a reportedly €22 million price. He had six goals and seven assists in LaLiga last year.

PSG's start to the new season has been slow but they have picked up the pace under new manager Luis Enrique and are currently second in the table with eight points.
