The Indian contingent wrapped up their triumphant journey at the Asian Games 2023, leaving an indelible mark of excellence. With an impressive total of 107 medals – comprising 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze – India proudly secures the fourth position on the medal leaderboard.

This remarkable medal haul commenced with a silver in the shooting event on the opening day and concluded with a silver medal in chess on the 14th day of the quadrennial extravaganza.

China reigned supreme at the top of the medal tally, amassing 371 medals, including a staggering 197 gold, 108 silver, and 70 bronze medals. Following closely are Japan and South Korea, with 179 and 185 medals respectively. Japan, securing the second position, boasts a total of 49 gold medals, while South Korea has clinched 39 gold medals.

Among India's athletes, the highest medal count comes from the athletic contingent, with a total of 29 medals. Notably, the shooting team closely follows with an impressive haul of 22 medals.

This historic achievement marks India's highest-ever medal count in a single edition of the Asian Games, surpassing the previous record of 70 medals achieved at the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018. It's a testament to the dedication and prowess of India's athletes on the international stage.
