As the sun set on the Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2024 in Dubai, India secured several podium finishes on the final day of the event. However, despite the fierce competition and outstanding efforts, the elusive gold medal remained beyond grasp as India bagged six bronze medals and three silver medals.

Both the men and women’s relay teams secured the bronze medal in the 4x100m event. The women’s team clocked a timing of 53:22s while the men’s team finished with a time of 40.01s.

Another exciting final was the 100m Women’s Hurdles with Unnathi Aiyappa claiming the bronze clocking 13.65s while Sabita Toppo finished seventh with a time of 14.49s.

In a disappointing turn of events on the Day 4, senior record-holder Kuldeep Kumar faltered settling for seventh place with a 4.80m effort in the men’s pole-vault. His record stands at 5.17m. Dev Kumar Meena finished in the third place achieving a height of 5.10m.

With Saturday being the final of the Asian U20 Athletics Championships, India finished the competition with 29 medals that includes seven gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals to finish second behind China in the overall medal tally.
