Diamond League Final 2022: Neeraj Chopra eyes first-ever crown
The 'golden boy' finished seventh in 2017 and fourth in 2018.
The much-awaited Diamond League Final is set to take place on 7th and 8th September in Zurich, Switzerland. India’s sensation Neeraj Chopra will be in action in the men’s javelin throw event on 8th September. This year, the Olympic champion and World Athletics Championships’ silver medallist will look to lift his first-ever Diamond League trophy.
The 24-year-old Neeraj Chopra qualified for the final of the event after a podium finish at the Stockholm Diamond League, followed by winning the Lausanne last week. The Diamond League is a series of athletics meet, which ends with a Diamond League Final, also known as the Diamond Race.
Neeraj will take part in his third Diamond League Final after finishing seventh in 2017 and fourth in 2018. The 2018 final was a heart-breaking moment for the Indian champion as he missed out on a medal by a mere 0.03m.
Tough Competition
Chopra’s biggest rival, Anderson Peters, has pulled out of the Diamond League Final due to an injury he suffered last month. Still, the Indian is expected to face tough competition from other star athletes. Here is the start list for the event:
Neeraj Chopra, Patrick Galiums, Leandro Ramos, Curtis Thompson, Jakub Vadlejch, Julian Weber
