Letsile Tebogo records his second best timing this season in 200m at Lausanne Diamond League 2024.
Letsile Tebogo returned to action in awesome fashion, winning the 200m at Lausanne Diamond League 2024 with apparent ease in 19.64 on the uniquely broad and gentle bend of the La Pontaise stadium.
He was followed home by USA’s Erriyon Knighton in 19.78, with Olympic 100m bronze medallist Fred Kerley finishing third in a season’s best of 19.86. Knighton was leading his rivals even after the curve but the last few metres saw Tebogo picking up the pace and taking the lead at the finish line. The Olympic champion in the 200m pointed his finger to the crowd at the finish line with a smile.
The day before, Tebogo had confessed with a smile that he had not trained for eight days. “It was a great race for me here today in Lausanne, to be able to return here the following year is very cool to me,” he said.
It was his second fastest time of the season only behind the 19.46 secs which he ran in the finals of Paris Olympics 2024. Meanwhile, Kerley and Knighton ensured two medals for the USA in the event.
Rasheed Broadbell edgest past Grant Holloway in men’s 110m hurdles at Lausanne Diamond League 2024
Jamaican Rasheed Broadbell was pumped up after stepping up his form during the men’s 110m hurdles. He took the title with a timing of 13.10 secs and stunned Paris Olympics champion, Grant Holloway. The American was leading the race from the start but could not maintain momentum after the final hurdle.
Broadbell was placed second until the final hurdle as he made sure to secure the top spot in the event for the second time this season. He will now hope to clock his first sub 13 race this season after handing out Holloway’s first defeat of the season.
Holloway could see Broadbell celebrating at the finish line as he finished second with a timing of 13.14 secs. 34-year-old Jamaican, Hansle Parchment was placed third with a timing of 13.23 secs. The Tokyo Olympics champion denied Daniel Roberts a top three finish at Lausanne. Roberts had won silver at Paris but finished behind Parchment.
