A lot of top Indian players are participating in the tournament.
National Federation Cup returns after a year gap as many star Indian athletes are ready to showcase their skills on the national stage. The tournament is being held at Calicut University from 2 to 6 April 2022.
Calicut University is known for producing top Indian athletes such as P. T. Usha and Anju Bobby George. All the athletes will showcase their skills at the Calicut University Stadium. The stadium placed a synthetic turf in 2016 for the athletes and various national tournaments. The last edition of the tournament was held at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in Patiala.
There are a lot of exciting contests to look forward to in the competition. The women’s 100m race will feature the likes of Dutee Chand and Hima Das. Missing from the men’s 100m meet, though, is the National record holder Amiya Mallick, who said he wasn’t prepared fully. In his absence, the focus could be on the 21-year-old Gurindervir Singh.
India's top long-jumper Murali Sreeshankar is also participating in the National Federation Cup. The national record holder will look to improve his timing during the tournament. It will certainly boost his confidence before the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. The two big mega event will take place later this year.
