Neeraj Chopra won his second Olympic medal in Paris this year.
Neeraj Chopra opened up about his performances in the 2024 season while being present at Sports University of Haryana in Sonipat. The double Olympic medallist gave an interview to Press Trust of India (PTI) and spoke about the nation’s performance in the Olympics and Paralympics this year. Chopra also reflected upon the goals he had for the coming months.
He praised India’s athletes for performing well in the Olympics and stated that the performance would improve in the upcoming editions. Chopra when asked about his targets said, ‘Our biggest target for next year is the Athletics World Championship, and we will begin preparations for that now. The Olympics are always on our minds, but we have four years for that.’
The 26 year old also revealed that he had not yet met Navdeep Singh and Sumit Antil after their gold medal winning efforts at Paris Paralympics 2024 in Javelin throw. Chopra said that he would like to meet and spend time with them.
The Tokyo Olympic champion in men’s javelin throw discussed the concerns of injuries this season. He assured of a fitter comeback into competition, Chopra has been delivering top notch results even though he had been struggling with injuries.

Neeraj Chopra’s injuries in 2024 season
The 2024 season saw him competing with adductor muscle niggle and also a fractured left hand. Chopra revealed on social media that he had competed in Brussels Diamond League 2024 with a fractured left hand. He still finished second with a throw of 87.86 m which was just a centimeter behind Anderson Peters.
In Paris Olympics 2024, Chopra could not produce his best due to adductor muscle niggle. He managed to get hold of silver in men’s javelin throw with a best attempt of 89.45m. Two weeks later, Chopra produced his season best throw of 89.49m for a second place finish in Lausanne Diamond League 2024. The 2025 season will see Chopra returning injury free and aiming for the elusive 90m mark.
As he confirmed that the next target would be the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo. Fans can expect Chopra to break more records on his way to the podium. The wait has already started for him to return to competition.
