Neeraj Chopra was welcomed with cheers and applause during his visit to Sports University of Haryana in Sonipat. The students and officials were lined up on both sides as the double Olympic medallist made his way into the institution. He was seen with a plaster on his left hand as he spent time with the officials and students.
Chopra spoke to the officials and discussed making a comeback to competition next season. He revealed his immediate target being the Athletics World Championships in Tokyo next year. The national record holder in men’s javelin throw also stated that the Olympics will always be in his mind even though the next one is in four years.
Chopra had returned to India after ending the season with multiple podium finishes. He had to settle for silver in the men’s javelin throw during the Paris Olympics 2024. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem edged him in the final with a new Olympic record. Chopra’s injuries also held him back this season but he still managed to impress the fans.
The Los Angeles Olympics 2028 could see him winning his third Olympic medal. He will be 29 by then but will be India’s top medal contender. Fans will be now waiting to see him in action as they had last seen him competing in Brussels Diamond League.
