This will be the 23rd edition of the National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025.

The 23rd edition of the U20 National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025 will take place at the Madan Mohan Malviya Sports Stadium in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The U20 event was scheduled to be held in Indore in May this year, but it was rescheduled and shifted to Prayagraj.

Overall, 1000 athletes from across the country will compete in 48 different events in the junior men and junior women categories. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five players to watch out for at the U20 National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025.

5. Kiran (Men’s 110m Hurdles)

Kerala-born Kiran is the youngest athlete to watch out for in the list. He is the current U18 national record holder in men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.74 seconds. The budding athlete clocked the time in the men’s 110m hurdles semi-final race at the National Junior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar last year. He bettered his own U18 National Record of 13.52 seconds.

Kiran also went on to win the gold medal in the men’s 110m hurdles event in Bhubaneswar, clocking a time of 13.64 seconds.

4. Dipanshu Sharma (Men’s Javelin Throw)

Dipanshu Sharma is a U20 Asian Champion in the men’s U20 javelin throw event. He clinched the gold medal at the Asian U20 Athletics Championship in Dubai last year with a best throw of 70.29m.

The youngster is heading into the U20 National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025 after an impressive performance in the 1st Indian Open Athletics meet that took place at the War Hero Stadium in Sangrur on April 1. He won the gold medal in the competition with a best throw of 75.04 to set his new personal best in the javelin throw.

3. Vanshika Ghanghas (Women’s Pole Vault)

Vanshika Ghanghas, a U20 National Record holder in women’s Pole Vault, will be among the athletes to look out for in the 23rd edition of the U20 National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025. She clinched the gold medal, clearing the mark of 3.76m at the National Junior Athletics Championships, Bhubaneswar, last year to set a new National Record in the event.

2. Pavana Nagaraj (Women’s Long Jump)

A rising star, Pawan Nagaraj, recently made his NCAA debut, representing San Diego State University in January this year. She finished eighth in the competition with a best of 5.79m. The young Indian athlete is the daughter of Sahana Kumari, who holds the national record in the women’s Long Jump event.

Pavana is also a U20 Asian Champion in the long jump, having won the gold medal at the Asian U20 Athletics Championship in Dubai last year with a personal best of 6.32m. She also competed in the U20 World Athletics Championship last year, but failed to make an impact.

1. Poonam (Women’s Javelin Throw)

Young javelin throw sensation Poonam is among the athletes to watch out for at the U20 National Junior Federation Athletics Championships 2025. She previously clinched the silver medal in the 4th South Asian Junior Athletics Championship in 2024 with a throw of 51.21m.

She finished behind India’s Deepika, who won the gold medal with 54.98 metres in the fourth edition of the tournament held in India. Poonam will look for a better throw when she takes the field in Uttar Pradesh.
