Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2026: Full schedule, fixtures, results, Indian contingent, live streaming details

Tajinderpal Singh Toor is leading the Indian contingent at Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2026.

The 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships will be held from February 6 to 8, 2026 in Tianjin, China. This biennial continental indoor track and field competition will feature elite athletes from across Asia competing in sprints, middle distance, jumps, throws, and combined events.

Leading the squad is experienced shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor, who clinched gold at the 11th Asian Indoor Meet in Tehran with a best throw of 19.72 m.

The 31-year-old from Punjab holds India’s national outdoor record of 21.77 m, achieved in Bhubaneswar in 2023. Toor is also a former champion at the 10th Asian Indoor Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, and a two-time Asian Games gold medalist, making him one of India’s strongest medal prospects.

In the jumping events, long jumper Shahnawaz Khan and seasoned triple jumper Praveen Chithravel are set to begin their 2026 competitive season at the continental indoor meet in China. Both athletes will look to make a strong early-season statement against top Asian competition.

The men’s squad also features heptathlete Tejaswin Shankar and sprinter Manikanta Hoblidhar, who will compete in the 60-meter event.

On the women’s side, India’s leading sprinters Nithya Gandhe and Abhinaya Rajarajan are slated to line up in the 60m dash in Tianjin. Moumita Mondal will have a busy schedule, competing in the 60 m hurdles as well as the women’s long jump at the championships.

This will be the 12th edition of the tournament, with the first-ever edition being played back in 2004. China are the most successful nation with three titles, while Kazakhstan and Qatar won the Asian Indoor Championships twice.
