Entry lists for the World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 24 confirm that more than 1700 athletes from 134 teams are set to compete at the Estadio Atletico de la Videna between 27-31 August. Lima will host the World Athletics U20 Championships for the first time, bringing together more than 1500 athletes from around the world at the Estadio Atletico de la Villa Deportiva Nacional. More than 50 athletes entered for the Paris Olympics 2024 are eligible to compete at the U20 event in Lima.
The venue, built for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, has capacity for 7500 people and will welcome athletes, family members and sports fans during the event. The audience can witness the future stars break records and enter the senior arena with hopes.
The list of Olympians who will compete for age group honours following the Paris Olympics 2024 includes Bradley Nkoana and Bayanda Walaza, who helped South Africa to men’s 4x100m silver in Paris, and Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew, who finished fifth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.
