BWF Spain Masters 300 Live Updates: PV Sindhu vs JM Yeo
Welcome to the live blog of Khel Now for the semi-final match of PV Sindhu in the BWF Spain Masters 300.
PV Sindhu seems to be finally catching up with the rest of the stars of Women's Singles as she has progressed to the first semi-finals in 2023. The two-time Olympic medalist will compete for a place in the title decider against JM Yeo of Singapore.
The 27-year-old has been her dominant self in the tournament, something that the fans couldn't see since the Commonwealth Games win. Struggling continuously with injuries and poor form, Sindhu has been deprived of any laurels off late, and as a result, she bid adieu to her South Korean head coach.
While she continues to look for a new head coach to train under, the second-seeded player has ensured that she doesn't let the gap between her and the likes of Akane Yamaguchi, An-Se Young and Tai Tzu-Ying widen any further. And so, she has brought her A-game to the Super 300 event BWF Spain Masters.
World No 11 currently, PV Sindhu started the BWF Spain Masters with a straight sets win over Swiss player J. Stadelmann in the Round of 32 game. She next faced the challenge of the Indonesian shuttler PK Wardani in the Round of 16 match. She beat the Indonesian in straight sets to set up the quarter-final clash with Danish star M Blichfeldt.
On the other hand, JM Yeo has already overcome an Indian challenge on her route to the semi-finals. She faced Ashmita Chalihan in the Round of 16 match and got the better of her Indian opponent in straight sets. Like Sindhu, JM Yeo also has straight-set wins throughout the tournament. However, she hasn't looked as dominant as her Indian opponent in the semi-final clash.
It would be an evenly contested game between the two top 20 players of BWF Rankings. Sindhu is expected to come out on top.
