Shuttlers who can qualify for BWF World Tour Finals 2023

The race to the BWF World Tour final has been spiced up with just one event remaining.

The BWF World Tour Finals 2023 is imminent, with only one event remaining (Li-Ning China Masters 2023). The competition for the BWF World Tour finals 2023 spot is intensifying. Some players have secured their positions at the prestigious championships, while others will battle it out in the last tournament to clinch a spot in the top eight. The BWF World Tour Finals 2023 are scheduled to be held from December 13 to December 17 in Hangzhou, China.

List of shuttlers who can still qualify for BWF World Tour Finals 2023

Men’s Singles

Kunlavut Vitidsran automatically qualifies for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023 as the reigning world champion.

Li Shi Feng

The All-England champion is sitting in a comfortable position for qualification with 85,160 points. He has played 17 tournaments so far. He has won two tournaments, Prestigious All England (Super 1000) and US Open (Super 300). He also reached the finals of the French Open (Super 750), Canada Open (Super 500) and German Open (Super 300).

Jonatan Christie

The face of Indonesian badminton, Jonatan Christie has played 13 tournaments and has 81,770 points. He is also in a comfortable position to qualify. He has won three tournaments, Indonesia Masters (Super 500), Hong Kong Open (Super 500), and French Open (Super 750). He also reached the finals of the Japan Open (Super 750) this year.

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting

Ginting is also in a comfortable position to qualify. He has played 13 tournaments and has got 78,520 points. He has just won one tournament this year which was the Singapore Open (Super 750) where he was the defending champion. He also reached the finals of the Indonesia Open (Super 1000) this year.

Kodai Naroka

Even though he has not won any tournament this year, his consistent performance has ensured that he is in a good position to qualify for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023. He has played 15 tournaments and has 79,090 points. His best performance was the runner-up finish in the Malaysia Open 2023.

Viktor Axelsen

The Olympic champion, who was out twice because of injury this year, has ensured he has good enough points to qualify for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023. He has played a mere 11 tournaments but has won four of them. He has won the Malaysia Open (Super 1000), Indonesia Open (Super 1000), Japan Open (Super 750) and China Open (Super 1000). He also reached the final of the India Open (Super 750).

Shi Yu Qi

Despite not winning any tournament this year, he has managed to get enough points to qualify for the BWF World Tour Finals. He has played 15 tournaments and has got 78,200 points. His best result was at the All England where he was the finalist losing to his compatriot Li Shi Feng.

Anders Antonsen

Anders Antonsen has currently 77390 points and he needs approximately 81000 points to qualify. He needs to reach the semifinals of the China Open to qualify otherwise he has to depend on the other players. The Danish No. 2 has won the Korea Open (Super 500) this year.

Ng Tze Yong

Currently with 73180 points and an early exit in Japan Masters have hurt him. He now needs to reach the final of China Masters to stand a chance for qualification. He is yet to win any tournament this year. His best results came when he reached the final of the Hong Kong Open 2023. He also has two semi-final appearances this year.

Kenta Nishimoto

Nishimto currently has 71220 points and would want to reach the finals of China Masters to stand a chance of qualification. He also needs to ensure that Ng Tze Yong doesn’t reach the final of the China Masters and Lee Zii Jia doesn’t win the China Masters. He has won the Spain Masters (Super 300) and was the finalist of the Hong Kong Open.

Lee Zii Jia

The former All-England champion needs to win the China Masters and would want many other factors in his favor. He has played 17 tournaments and has 69,460 points. He has won only one tournament this year which was the Finland Open (Super 500)

Women’s Singles

An Se Young automatically qualifies for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023 after winning the 2023 World Championships.

Chen Yu Fei

Having won three tournaments this year, The Olympic Champion has 90,390 points in just 11 tournaments. She has won the Indonesia Open (Super 1000), Denmark Open (Super 750), and France Open (Super 750) this year. She also reached the final of Prestigious All England 2023.

Carolina Marin

The three-time world champion has played 13 tournaments and has 86,930 points. She has won the Orleans Masters (Super 300). She has also reached the final of the Indonesia Masters (Super 500) and Denmark Open (Super 750).

Gregoria Mariska Tunjung

The Indonesian shuttler has played 15 tournaments and has 72,820 points. She has won the Spain Masters (Super 300). She also reached the final of Malaysia Masters (Super 500) this year.

Beiwen Zhang

The Pan American Player has played 19 tournaments and has 74,810 points. She has won two tournaments, the Australia Open (Super 500) and the Hylo Open (Super 300). She has also reached the finals of the Orleans Masters (Super 300) and Taipei Open (Super 300).

Tai Tzu Ying

The queen of deception, Tai Tzu Ying has 84,660 points in just 12 tournaments. She defended her title at her home tournament Taipei Open (Super 300). She has reached the finals of the Korea Open (Super 500) and French Open (Super 750) this year.

He Bingjiao

He Bingjiao hasn’t won any tournaments this year but her consistent performance this year can help her qualify. She needs to reach the quarterfinals of China Masters and needs Han Yue to lose in Round 1. She has 79,550 points in 13 tournaments.

Han Yue

Han Yue needs to reach at least quarterfinals to increase her points and would need He Bingjiao not to reach quarterfinals. If she reaches the last eight stage at China Masters, then Han Yue has to win the tournament to qualify. She has 82,710 points in 18 tournaments. She has won the Finland Open (Super 500) and has reached the finals of the Thailand Masters (Super 300).

Pornpawee Chochuwong

Since Pornpawee has withdrawn from both Japan Masters and China Masters. She needs to ensure that her compatriot Supanida Katethong doesn’t reach round 2 of the China Masters. She has 70,270 points from 19 tournaments. She has won the Swiss Open (Super 300).

Supanida Katethong

Supanida needs to reach Round 2 of the China Masters to qualify for the finals. She has 67,760 points and won the US Open (Super 300) this year.

Men’s doubles

The World Champion Kang Ming Hyuk/Seo Sung Jae has automatically qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023.

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto

The former World No. 1 has 90,740 points in 15 tournaments. They have won All England (Super 1000) and Indonesia Open (Super 1000). They have also reached the Korea Open 2023 (Super 500). They are in a comfortable position to qualify.

Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang

The current World No. 1 has played 13 tournaments and has 89,740 points. They have won the India Open (Super 750). Thailand Masters (Super 500) and China Open (Super 1000). They have also reached the finals of the Malaysia Open (Super 750) and Singapore Open (Super 750) this year.

Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi

They have played 15 tournaments and have 86,360 points. They have won the Singapore Open (Super 750) and have reached the finals of Japan (Super 750) and Australia Open (Super 500).

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik

They have 85,990 points in 15 tournaments. This year they managed to win their 1st World Tour Title after winning the Denmark Open (Super 750). They have also reached the finals of the India Open (Super 750), China Open (Super 1000), and Indonesia Open (Super 100).

Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen

The Danish No. 1 is sitting in a comfortable position to qualify with 85,200 points. They have won four tournaments this year, Canada Open (Super 500), Hong Kong Open (Super 500), Finland Open (Super 500), and France Open (Super 750).

Muhammad Fikri/Bagas Maulana

They are also looking comfortable to qualify and a good run at the China Masters will seal the deal for them. They have won 80,180 points in 18 tournaments. They reached the finals of four tournaments, the Orleans Masters (Super 300), Thailand Masters (Super 500), Denmark, and French Open (Super 750) but failed to win any of them.

Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin

Currently with 73,470 points an early exit at the Japan Masters has hurt their chances. They would want to reach at least quarterfinals at the China Masters to qualify for the finals. The Olympic Champions have won the Japan Open (Super 750) and has reached the finals of the Hylo and Korea Open (Super 300).

Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi

Currently with 72,350 points and after Japan Masters they will overtake the Olympic Champions and if they finish above Liu/Ou in both tournaments they will qualify for the finals. They haven’t won any tournament this year nor reached the finals.

Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi

Currently with 72,280 points and after Japan Masters they will overtake the Olympic Champions and if they finish above Ong/Teo in both tournaments they will qualify for the finals. They have won the German Open (Super 300) this year.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty

The early exit of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty at the Japan Masters made their qualification almost impossible, and they have to win the China Masters to stand a chance for qualification. They have won three tournaments this year, Korea Open (Super 500), Spain Masters (Super 300), and Indonesia Open (Super 1000).

Women’s Doubles

World Champions Chen Qingchen / Jia Yifan have already qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023.

Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee

They have 94,140 points in 13 tournaments. They have won three tournaments this year, German Open (Super 300), Malaysia Masters (Super 500), and Indonesia Open (Super 1000). They also managed to reach the finals of the Thailand Masters (Super 300), All England (Super 1000), and Singapore Open (Super 750).

Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara

They have 91,740 points in 14 tournaments. They haven’t won any tournament but their consistent run has put them in a comfortable position to qualify. Their best result was reaching the finals of the Canada Open (Super 500).

Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning

They are in a comfortable position to qualify with 81,760. They have won four tournaments, Spain Masters (Super 300), US Open (Super 300), Finland Open (Super 500), and French Open (Super 750). They have also reached the finals of the Orleans Masters (Super 300) and Australia Open (Super 500).

Kim So-yeong/Kong Hee-yong

They are in a comfortable position to qualify with 81,270. They have won four tournaments. They have won All England (Super 1000), Thailand Open (Super 500), Japan Open (Super 750) and Australia Open (Super 500). They have reached the finals of the Korea Open (Super 500).

Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Ramadhanti

They are in a comfortable position to qualify with 81,760. They have won the Hong Kong Open (Super 500) and have reached the finals of Korea Masters (Super 300).

Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida

An equal or 1 step above finish over their compatriots Yuki/Sayaka will allow them to qualify for the finals They have 85,690 points in 15 tournaments. They have won the India Open (Super 750) and the Canada Open (Super 500). They have reached the finals of the German Open (Super 300) and Denmark Open (Super 750).

Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota

Yuki/Sayaka have to finish 1 step above their compatriots Nami/Shida as they are around 2k points behind. They have 83,070 points in 17 tournaments. Their best results came when they reached the finals of the Indonesia Masters (Super 500), Swiss Open (Super 300) and Indonesia Open (Super 1000).

Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai

An equal or 1 step above finish over their compatriots will allow them to qualify for the finals. They have won 74,260 points in 18 tournaments. They have reached the finals of the Finland Open (Super 500) and French Open (Super 750).

Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard

They need to finish 1 step above their compatriots Jongkolphan Kititharakul / Rawinda Prajongjai at the China Masters to qualify. They have won the Indonesia Masters (Super 500) and have reached the finals of the Thailand Open (Super 500).

Mixed Doubles

Seo Seung Jae/Chae Yoo Jung has already qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023 by being the world champion.

Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping

They have 102,210 points in 15 tournaments. They are the most successful Mixed Doubles pair this year, having won seven tournaments this year. The rising Malaysian Pair has currently 76,600 points. The points will increase after the Japan Open and a round 2 and above finish at the China Masters will qualify them to the finals. They have won the Taipei Open and Orleans Masters (Super 300).

Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin

An equal or above finish over Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet will help them qualify for the finals. They have 73,890 points in 21 tournaments. They have won the US Open (Super 300) and have reached the finals of the Orleans Masters (Super 300).

Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet

They have to finish 1 step above Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin will help them qualify for the BWF World Tour Finals 2023. They have 73,820 points in 18 tournaments. They have won the German Open (Super 300) and have reached the finals of the French Open (Super 750) and Hong Kong Open (Super 500).
