Report: An Se Young donates prize money from Korea Badminton Association to elementary school students

She received 13 million in prize money from the federation as the Korean female player of the year.
World No. 1 An Se Young has exemplified both excellence on the court and compassion off it by recently making headlines for her philanthropic gesture. After receiving 13 million in prize money at the 2023 National Badminton Team award ceremony in December, An Se Young decided to pay it forward by donating the entire sum to aspiring elementary school students.
An Se Young’s extraordinary accomplishments in badminton are noteworthy. In 2023 alone, she secured 10 championship titles in international competitions, including the coveted Asian Games gold medal. She achieved these feats despite facing adversities such as a knee injury.
Reflecting on her journey, young stated, “I ran hard this year,” acknowledging the efforts and sacrifices that contributed to her victories. Her experiences have only served to fortify her resolve.
“I ran really hard this year” and “The difficult moments made me stronger.”
In addition to her athletic achievements, An Se’s commitment to giving back to the community is commendable. By directing her prize money towards supporting primary badminton players through the Korea Elementary Badminton Federation, she is paving the way for future generations to pursue their dreams in this sport.

An Se Young’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. In December 2017, in middle school, she stunned the badminton world by securing a place on the national team. Her story is truly motivating from a young student first picking up a racket in elementary school to being recognized as the 2023 Badminton World Federation (BWF) Female Player of the Year.
