Lakshya Sen, Gayatri-Jolly enter All England Open 2022 semis

This is the first time that an Indian doubles pair have entered the final four of the prestigious competition.
20-year-old Lakshya Sen reached his maiden semi-final at the All England Open in just his second appearance at the tournament. The shuttler became only the third men's singles player from India to reach the semi-finals of the prestigious tournament, after Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand.
Lakshya was to face China’s Lu Guang Zu in the quarter-final, but was given a walkover before the match. He will now face the winner of the clash between World No. 2 Kento Momota and reigning champion Lee Zii Jia.
Glory for Treesa Jolly & Gayatri Gopichand
The women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also reached their first semi-final in their debut appearance at the All England Open. The duo defeated World No. 2s Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan of Korea. This is the first time an Indian doubles pair have reached the final four of the competition.
The Indian pair lost the first game 14-21. In the second, the duo saved two match points and won the game 22-20 to take the clash to a decider.
Both the pairs went toe-to-toe in the deciding game till the mid-game interval. But, it was the Indian pair who raced to a decisive lead and stole the match from the former winners at this tournament. The final scoreline of the match was 14-21, 22-20, 21-15.
Chirag-Satwik crash out
The Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost their All England Open quarter-final encounter against World No. 1s Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. The duo kept the lead of points in their favour in the first game, before having three game posint opportunities. However, the former winners bounced back, saving all of them and took the game in their favour at 22-20.
The second game saw both pairs fighting hard for each point, but it was the Indonesians who took the match into their pocket at 22-20, 21-17.
