Sindhu, Srikanth storm into semi-finals of 2021 Indonesia Masters

The Indian shuttlers have been good in the tournament.

Two-time Olympic medalist India's PV Sindhu carried on her excellent run of form in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2021 Indonesia Masters. She reached the semi-finals of the tournament after defeating Neslihan Yigit of Turkey 21-13, 21-10 in straight games.

Third seed Sindhu looked in complete control from the start of the match and produced some good shots to take an early lead. Yigit had no answers to Sindhu's agility as the Indian shuttler led by 11-6 at the break. From there on, it was a cakewalk for the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist, as she comfortably won the game to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Turkish shuttler started positively in the second game. She took a 3-0 lead with some strong shots on display. However, World No. 7 Sindhu bounced back ferociously and was ahead by 11-8 at the break. Yigit had a sloppy start after the pause, losing out on key points to her Indian opponent. The Turkish player could only take two points after the break, as Sindhu stormed to another comfortable victory at the Indonesia Masters.

She will now face Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters. World No. 3 Yamaguchi defeated Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand to enter the last four of the tournament.

Srikanth rolls past Prannoy

Kidambi Srikanth has played some good badminton at the ongoing 2021 Indonesia Masters. He showed the same class in the quarter-finals against compatriot HS Prannoy. Srikanth defeated his fellow Indian shuttler 21-7, 21-18 in straight games to reach the last four of the tournament.

Prannoy had caused a huge upset in the previous round by defeating World No. 2 Viktor Axelsen in a three-game marathon. However, Srikanth stopped Prannoy's dream run in the tournament with some strong shots and sublime net-play. The 28-year-old started the first game with good intent and took a 11-5 lead at the break. He continued his brilliant display later to win the first game.

Srikanth had to dig deep in the second game as Prannoy took a 10-5 lead in no time. However, the Indian shuttler wasn't able to manage his lead till the break as Srikanth levelled the game up at 10-10. He then scored a big point to go into the break with a lead. After the pause, Prannoy lost his momentum and Srikanth improved his stroke play to win the game and match.

The Indian will now face either Anders Antonsen or Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the semi-finals of Indonesia Masters.
