India are yet to register a single victory in the competition.
On Day 2 of the Selangor Badminton Asia Team Championships 2022, Malaysia's Women's Team, which is in Group Y, narrowly defeated India by 3-2. This victory secured the host country’s spot as the group winner. Malaysia had defeated Japan 3-2 on the first day. However, their victory on Day 2 was different from when they beat Japan.
Malaysia immediately led 2-0. The impromptu pair Valeree Siow/Pearly Tan won 21-1, 21-6 over Indian doubles Khushi Gupta/Mehreen Riza for the second point with a score of under ten. Before the doubles of Cheong Anna Ching Yik/Teoh Mei Xing beat India's representatives Arul Bala Radhakrishnan/Nila Valullan, India had time to close the gap to 1-2.
In the men's team, Malaysia took the lead right away. In the Group B match, they crushed Singapore 5-0. In the same group, Japan also won a perfect five games over Kazakhstan. Lee Zii Jia, the 2021 All England champion, easily defeated Loh Kean Yew, the 2021 world champion, 21-6, 21-14 at the Badminton Asia Team Championships
This victory makes Lee Zii Jia avenge the defeat of the last two meetings while making it 3-2 ahead. This at the same time lifts the mentality of his colleagues so that they can sweep all of the victories at the Badminton Asia Team Championships.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Women's Team made sure to qualify for the semifinals of the Selangor Badminton Asia Team Championships 2022. Despite the absence of Indonesia's two best singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Stephanie Widjaja, all of the victories over Kazakhstan were won with scores below ten. The first singles player was Putri Kusuma Wardhani. In 21 minutes, the 19-year-old world rank 76 defeated Aisha Zhumabek 21-8, 21-7.
Korea also got a similar success in the same group. They won 5-0 over Hong Kong China. This victory made Korea temporarily lead the standings of Group Z. Unlike Indonesia's match against Kazakhstan, the match between Korea and Hong Kong China was tough. Of the five matches held, four of them were rubber sets at the Badminton Asia Team Championships.
Only the second match lasted two games. It happened when the South Korean pair Baek Ha Na/Seong Seung Yeon faced Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam with a score of 21-17, 21-16 in the Badminton Asia Team Championships.
