The world's top badminton players are participating in the competition.

Three Indian shuttlers including PV Sindhu have reached the pre-quarter-finals of the ongoing Indonesia Open in Bali on Wednesday. The two-time Olympic medalist defeated Japan's Aya Ohori in a gruelling three-game encounter to progress further in the tournament.

Third seed PV Sindhu started the match on a bad note. She lost the first game 17-23, but came back strongly to win the next two games and match 17-21, 21-17, 21-17 in one hour and 30 minutes. The star Indian shuttler will now face Yvonne LI of Germany to book her place in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Open.

Sindhu has never won this competition and will look to create history in the coming days. The World No. 7 has never faced LI in her career, but given the ranking of the German player, it should be an easy ride for the Indian shuttler. Yvonne LI is in 26th position in the BWF Rankings at the moment.

Praneeth & Srikanth register big wins

Indian male badminton players B. Sai Praneeth and Kidambi Srikanth also cruised into the last 16 of the Indonesia Open. Praneeth looked in good touch after a long time and registered victory in straight games. He defeated France's Toma Junior Popov 21-19, 21-18 in 46 minutes. The 29-year-old will now face Christo Popov of France in the next round.

Kidambi Srikanth continued his good run of form as he defeated compatriot H. S. Prannoy. The World No. 12 had to dig deep to register a victory by 21-15, 19-21, 21-12 and move into the quarter-finals of the tournament. This is the second straight win for Srikanth over Prannoy. He had defeated the 29-year-old in the Indonesia Masters 2021 as well.

Srikanth will be up against either Koki Watanabe or Viktor Axelsen in the next round of the Indonesia Open.

Disappointment for Indian shuttlers in doubles category

The mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and N. Sikki Reddy crashed out of the tournament after facing a defeat against Kyohei Yamashita and Naru Shinoya. The Japanese pair won the match convincingly by 21-7, 21-12 in just 28 minutes. Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy suffered the same fate in the doubles category, as Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva beat them in straight games.

The Bulgarian pair won the match by 29-27, 21-18 in 54 minutes to move into the next round of the Indonesia Open.
