Srikanth faces Kim Brunn, Sindhu aims to continue run at India Open 2022

World Championship bronze medallist Lakshya Sen will also feature in the tournament on Thursday.

It has been a fine start for the Indian shuttlers at the India Open 2022. All the household names have won their first round clashes and will be looking to continue the same momentum. Day 3 of the India Open will see the players build on their good start in the tournament.

Here is a preview of all the action set to take place on Thursday.

Men's Singles

After beating his brother in the first round, Sameer Verma will take on Canadian shuttler Brian Yang in the second round of the Indian Open 2022. Sameer is the sixth seed in the tournament.

However, the attraction at the start of the day will be Kidambi Srikanth featuring against Denmark's Kim Brunn. The top seed at the India Open had a smooth sailing first round where he defeated Siril Verma. He will look to stamp his authority in the upcoming matches as well.

It will be an action-packed day as Lakshya Sen will also take the court. The Indian youngster will feature against Sweden's Felix Burestedt. The third seed will be aiming for a spot on the podium and for that he will look to continue his fine form.

Later in the day, Rahul Yadav will be in action, as he will face Irish youngster Nhat Nguyen in the second round of the tournament. Yadav got a walkover in the first round, whereas Nguyen was engaged in a fierce encounter against Ajay Jayaram. However, Nguyen came from behind to defeat Jayaram in a three-game match. So, it won't be easy for Rahul Yadav.

HS Prannoy made light work of Pablo Abian in the first round and will look to continue the similar momentum when he takes on Mithun Manjunath in the second round. Manjunath played really well to beat French shuttler Arnaud Merkle, as he won a three-game encounter to start his campaign at the India Open 2022.

Women's Singles

In the women's category, fans will be excited to see PV Sindhu in action. The Olympic double medalist will face Ira Sharma in the second round. Sindhu breezed past Sri Krishna Priya in the first round and will look to continue the winning run.

The surprise package of this tournament till now has been Ashmita Chaliha. The Indian youngster defeated Russian stalwart Evgeniya Kosetskaya. The 22-year-old Assam-based shuttler will now take on Yaelle Hoyaux in the second round. She will look to play freely without any pressure.

Later in the day, former India Open champion Saina Nehwal will be in action. The Olympic medalist will go up against compatriot Malvika Bansod in the second round. The young shuttler defeated Samiya Farooqui in the first round and will look to go toe-to-toe with one of India's finest.

Doubles

There will be a lot of action in doubles as well, as Dhruv Kapila and N Sikki Reddy will start the action on India Open 2022 Day 3 when they face the Russian duo of Konstantin Abramov and Anastasiia Akchurina.

In the men's doubles, Bhaskar Chakraborty and Kapil Chaudhury will take on top seeds Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia. It will be a tough challenge for the Indian duo, but they will be hopeful of putting up a good fight.

In women's doubles, Ashwini Ponappa and N. Sikki Reddy will be in action, as they face the Russian pairing of Ekaterina Malkova and Anastasia Shapovalova in the second round of the tournament. The second seed pairing were tested in the first round against compatriots Janani Ananthakumar and Divya Balasubramanian. However, winning the three-game encounter would have given them a wake-up call and they will look to get back to their dominant best.

Later, India's star duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be in action, as they will take on another Indian pairing of Shyam Prasad and S. Sunjith (Jr.). The Satwik-Chirag duo dominated their India open 2022 first round clash against Ravi and Chirag Arora and looking at their current form, it is safe to say that they are aiming for the podium.
