PV Sindhu among four Indians to qualify for Indonesia Open quarter-final

Star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the tournament.

The Indonesia Open in Bali experienced four Indian shuttlers reaching the quarterfinals on Thursday. Being a Super 1000 event, it is a crucial tournament for the participating Indian shuttlers. Two-time Olympic medalist and third seed, PV Sindhu sailed into the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open 2021. She registered a comfortable straight-game win, 21-12, 21-18 over Germany's Yvonne Li in 37 minutes. 

Facing world No. 26 Yvonne Li for the first time, Sindhu did not fail to exhibit her experience. She took complete control over the match. Sindhu comfortably won the first game with her seven consecutive points being the highlight. 

Later in the second game, Li tried turn the tables on her side but fell short as Sindhu did not let the German take the lead. The Indian eventually won the game 21-18 to enter the quarterfinals of the Super 1000 tournament.  

Sindhu will now face world No. 54 Sim Yujin of Korea in the quarterfinals. The match is expected to be comparatively easy for the Indian star to progress into the Indonesia Open semi-finals. 

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty survive a thrilling pre-quarters

India's promising men's doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the Indonesia Open quarterfinals of the tournament in a nail-biting pre quarters match. The Indian duo won 21-15, 19-21, 23-21 over Korea's Kang Minhyuk and Seo Seungjae in one hour and 15 minutes, saving the last two match points in the process. 

The sixth-seeded young duo were leading till the interval in the second game but the Koreans raised their intensity to force a decider. 

The third game was a gritty encounter but the Indians registered a victory after saving two match points to move into the quarterfinals. The world No. 11 young Indian duo will now face the world No. 19 Malaysian pair of Nur Izzudin and Goh Sze Fei in the Indonesia Open quarterfinals tomorrow. 

Sai Praneeth sails into the quarters, Srikanth fails 

World No.16 men's singles player, B Sai Praneeth sailed through the quarterfinals after defeating Chistro Popov of France. He won the match in a thrilling three-game encounter (21-17, 14-21, 21-19). The match lasted for one hour and 23 minutes to move into the quarterfinals. 

However, a tough challenge lies ahead for Sai as he will face world No. 2 and Tokyo Olympic Champion, Victor Axelson in the quarterfinals. Moreover, Axelson defeated Srikanth Kidambi in the pre-quarters. 

It was the end of the tournament for Srikanth Kidambi as he went down in straight sets 14-21, 18-21 to Axelson in the Indonesia Open pre-quarters.
