China are the most successful nation in Sudirman Cup history with 13 titles.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) in collaboration with the Chinese Badminton Association (CBA) has confirmed Xiamen as host city for BWF Sudirman Cup 2025. The tournament will run from 27 April to 4 May 2025.
BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer congratulated the city of Xiamen on their successful bid. “The BWF is excited to be heading to beautiful Xiamen for the next edition of the BWF Sudirman Cup finals.
“We are looking forward to working with CBA and the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government to put on a wonderful show for our players, fans and partners,” said Høyer.
Xiamen is a port city on China’s southeast coast, and is famous for its scenic beaches, lush gardens, and delightful subtropical climate. Over the years, Xiamen has hosted many international sporting events, as well as developed a strong sporting culture within the community including a huge badminton playing population.
It will be the seventh occasion that China will host the Sudirman Cup Finals. However, Xiamen will be hosting the tournament for the first time.

The 86th BWF Annual General Meeting and 13th Members’ Forum will also be held in Xiamen in conjunction with the championships.
China, which has hosted three of the last five Sudirman Cup editions, emerged champions in the last edition played in the Suzhou city. China beat South Korea 3-0 in the final to lift the title for a record 13th time. It was also their third consecutive title win and ninth in the last 10 editions.
South Korea, which had won the 2017 edition in Gold Coast, Australia, finished as the runners-up for the fifth time while Malaysia and Japan shared the third and fourth positions respectively.
The Sudirman Cup, which is the mixed team World Cup in badminton, takes place every two years since its inaugural edition in 1989. The tournament is named after an Indonesian player by the same name.
