Viktor Axelsen will play at the upcoming Hong Kong Open and the China Open.

Danish shuttler Viktor Axelsen recently took to social media and uploaded a hilarious picture where he can be seen holding a gigantic shoe.

Earlier this month, the former BWF World No. 1 announced that he would miss the 2024 Japan Open due to fatigue and exhaustion. He defended his gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a straight-game win over Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand.

Interestingly, he didn’t drop a single game throughout his campaign in Paris, as he also defeated India’s Lakshya Sen and Loh Kean Yew of Indonesia on his way to the gold medal match. Viktor Axelsen is also the only non-Asian badminton player to defend his gold medal at the Olympics.

Despite missing the Japan Open due to Olympic fatigue, he revealed that he would visit the Asian country to meet his fans. Sharing a glimpse of his Japan trip, Axelsen took to social media and uploaded a picture of a gigantic shoe. He captioned the picture, “Finally found a shoe in my size in Asia, lol.”

He then also shared a picture with a huge badminton racquet.

Nevertheless, the Dane has also announced his return to badminton action. He took to X (formerly Twitter) and announced that would play at the upcoming Hong Kong Open and the China Open. Thus, Axelsen will also miss the Super 500 Korea Open and the Super 300 Taipei Open.

The Super 500 Hong Kong Open is set to start on September 10. In addition to that, Viktor Axelsen will also play in the Super 1000 China Open, which is scheduled from September 17 to 22 in Changzhou.

Axelsen is also the defending champion at the China Open. He defeated the likes of Lu Guangzu, Jonatan Christie, Loh Kean Yew, Wang Tzu-wei, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo to win the title. Consequently, he has also defended his Olympic gold medal, which will give him confidence ahead of the upcoming tournaments.
