Indian women won the gold medal in 2013.
Singapore is set to host the seventh edition of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2024, the premier basketball event for 3×3 national teams in Asia. The tournament will unfold at the OCBC Square, Singapore Sports Hub, with 23 men’s and 20 women’s teams vying for the top spot.
Asia’s premier 3×3 basketball tournament, the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, started in Doha, Qatar in 2013 as the FIBA Asia 3×3 Championship. It includes competitions for both men and women. Each team consists of four players, with three on the court and one as a reserve. Games are played on a half-court and follow regular basketball rules.
Defending champions Mongolia are looking to retain their title in the men’s category, while Australia’s women’s team, the defending champions, look to continue their dominance. Australia also holds the record for the most titles in the tournament’s history, with three wins in both men’s and women’s events.
The Indian teams are gearing up for a strong showing, with the women’s team eager to replicate their gold medal triumph from their debut in 2013. The men’s team, having reached the quarterfinals in the same year, is yet to surpass that achievement.
Both Indian teams will commence their journey from the qualifying rounds. The men’s team finds itself in Pool D alongside Malaysia, Maldives, and Macau, with the top team advancing to face New Zealand and Qatar. The women’s team is placed in Pool C, competing against Indonesia, Hong Kong China, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
The qualifying rounds are scheduled for March 27-28, while the knockouts and finals will captivate audiences on March 31.
