India announces men, women's teams for FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup 2024

The FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup is set to commence on 27 March.

The Basketball Federation of India has announced the Indian national team for the upcoming FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup 2024. Both the men’s and women’s teams have four players each who will represent the nation at the tournament. 

FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup 2024 – Men’s tournament 

The Men’s tournament will commence from 27-31 March and will be held at the Singapore Sports Hub in Singapore. A total of 23 nations are going to be part of the event.

At the outset, there will be a qualifying round to select the teams for the preliminary round. In the qualifying round, 15 teams will clubbed into four groups. India are placed in Pool D, alongside Malaysia, Maldives and Macau. The qualifying team from Pool D will advance to the preliminary round, where they will compete against New Zealand and Qatar.

Mongolia are the defending champions while the Australian team has bagged three titles across six editions, which is highest by any team.

2024 FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup – Women’s tournament 

The women’s tournament is scheduled to begin on 27 March and will run until 31 March at the Singapore Sports Hub in Singapore. A total of 20 nations will be participating in the tournament. 

The teams are divided into two stages, with nine teams having already secured a place in the preliminary round. In the qualifying round, 11 teams, divided into three pools, will compete. India are placed in Pool C, alongside Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Australia are the reigning champions, having secured the championship a total of three times within a span of six years.
