Tamil Nadu to take part in FIBA West Asia Super League

Last year Chennai Heat had to withdraw due to administrative reasons.
Tamil Nadu, the reigning national basketball champions of India, will represent the country at the FIBA West Asia Super League Final 8 tournament. The event is scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 1 at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall in Doha, Qatar.
The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups of four. Tamil Nadu has been placed in Group B alongside Kuwait Club from Kuwait, Shahrdary Gorgan from Iran, and Kazma, also from Kuwait. Group A comprises Al Riyadi from Beirut, Lebanon, Manama from Bahrain, C.S. Sagesse from Beirut, Lebanon, and BC Astana from Kazakhstan.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout semifinals. The West Asia Super League Final 8 finalists will earn the right to participate in the inaugural Basketball Champions League Asia, set to be played from June 9 to 15, 2024, in Dubai.
Tamil Nadu’s team is expected to feature several Indian international players who recently competed in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers. However, former Indian captain and Arjuna awardee Vishesh Bhriguvanshi will not be part of the squad for this tournament.
