The basketball action comes to Gujarat as Bhavnagar hosts its first Senior National Basketball Championship after 2019 at the Sidsar Sports Complex Indoor Stadium.

This time action is likely to be bigger with over 900 players from all over India, international athletes included, joined by 150 officials and representatives from Indian states for this tournament are likely to participate.

The championship, besides showing that Gujarat is truly ready for its turnaround in the domain of sports and has vow to host five world-class sporting events between 2025 and 2029.

The tournament builds on last year’s Tamil Nadu’s victory after having defeated Railways 72-67 in men’s finals. Baladhaneswar emerged as the game’s top scorer with 17 points and thus was declared as the MVP while receiving a car as a gift for his fine performance.

In the women’s section of the 73rd championship, Railways crushed Kerala 80-50. Poonam Chaturvedi was the standout performer with 23 points, and she won the women’s MVP award.

The championship provided a good purse, with winners getting ₹5,00,000, runners-up ₹3,00,000, and third-place teams ₹2,00,000.
