Usyk vs Fury II: Can Fury reclaim his throne in the Heavyweight Division?
Tyson Fury is a formidable fighter. So is Oleksandr Usyk. Both of them are the cream of the crop as far as the heavyweight division goes. When they last met each other, they were both undefeated. By the end of that bout, Usyk walked out as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, holding titles in the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF. He became the first person to do so in decades, creating a legacy of his own. Now, these two behemoths are set to butt heads again before Christmas.
At Allbets, we are excited about this showdown, but before we get to the bout, let’s take a look at what’s on the line!
New Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world
In the world of boxing, there are now four belts: the IBF, WBA, WBO, and WBC, which all have heavyweight championships of their own. Before May 18, nobody had ever held all these four belts before. The last time there was a true undisputed heavyweight champion was when Lennox Lewis, then WBC champ, beat Evander Holyfield for the IBF and WBA championships. That was twenty-four years ago. Usyk created history for the modern era by unifying all four belts.
However, the 37-year-old pugilist soon vacated the IBF heavyweight title. This means that should Fury win, he won’t be the undisputed champion. Still, Usyk is undefeated, which bodes well for anyone willing to place a wager on him retaining.
The fall of the Gypsy King
Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia, a land where the Gypsy King walked in champion and walked out after facing defeat for the first time in his professional career. In a split decision, Usyk was declared the winner. Though Fury parted from his opponent with a show of respect, he held firmly to the opinion that he had not lost that fight. He came out with tough words before the fight, stating that if Usyk couldn’t knock him out when he had the chance, he wouldn’t be able to do so now.
These are not empty threats. Tyson Fury is capable of incredible things, as he has shown time and time again. Four years ago, he stunned Deontay Wilder and the world by standing straight up after being knocked down. You can bet that all the popular betting exchange sites will be giving Fury an edge.
Who is expected to Win?
It is very difficult to say who will take home the big prize. For Fury’s part, his record speaks for itself. He is bigger than Usyk, and his size and power have always given him an edge. He is a brawler, a purebred fighter, and he has all the tools to knock anyone out. In every rematch he has had, Fury won via knockout. This is the fate he has promised Usyk, too. Whether he can deliver or not remains to be seen.
Usyk is a different beast. He is calm, collected, and fights like a machine. He is undoubtedly the better fighter, and his technique has carried him through a stellar, unblemished career where he is at the zenith. To offload some stress, he vacated the IBF title, which was then picked up by Daniel Dubois–who knocked out Anthony Joshua to defend it. With less pressure, Ulyk can focus all his energy on the Fury fight.
As is often the case when a fight of this magnitude is booked, the real winners will be the hundreds in attendance and the millions watching worldwide. There is no denying the fact that this is an event that does not happen often. We are literally watching history get created, and no matter who takes home the glory and the gold, one thing is for sure: these two have found a worthy opponent in each other, and their duel will be legendary! Make sure to tune in.
