India played five gold medal matches and won four of them.
Indian contingent and the fans couldn't have asked for a better final day of the Commonwealth Games 2022. All but the hockey final's result didn't went the Indian way on Day 11 of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
It all started with the contest for what was perhaps the most assured medal for India at the Commonwealth Games. P.V. Sindhu, who was not even at her absolute best, beat World no. 13 Canadian shuttler Michelle Li 21-15, 21-13. With the gold in the Women's Singles event of Badminton, India overtook New Zealand on the medals tally.
Later on, Lakshya Sen and the dashing duo of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made it three out of three Badminton finals of the day for India. Meanwhile, Sathiyan Gnanasekara\n had started the proceedings of the Indian challenge in the Table Tennis Men's Singles event with a Bronze Medal winning performance against the English paddler Paul Drinkhall.
Achanta Sharath Kamal, the recently announced flag-bearer of the Indian contingent in the closing ceremony, followed his younger teammate's performance with a gold medal-winning one of his own. He got the better of World no. 20 Liam Pitchford 4-1 in the finals.
The only result that didn't go India's way saw the men's hockey team get humbled 7-0 by the Australians in the Gold Medal Match. The game was full of learnings for the Indian side, filled with many youngsters playing for the first time against the Kookaburras.
