Neeraj Chopra wishes good luck to Indian athletes at CWG 2022

The Olympic champion had to pull out of the men's Javelin throw due to injury.

Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra wished all the Indian athletes very good luck in the upcoming events at CWG 2022. The success of the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games this year would be crucial for the upliftment of sports in the country.

The Indian javelin thrower Neeraj sent his best wishes to the country's other athletes after Mirabai Chanu secured the first gold medal for India in the 49kg category of weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games. He posted a video on Twitter stating, "Our start to Commonwealth Games has been ultimately good and our national anthem has already been played and I wish our national anthem will be played again. I wish all the athletes very good luck for their events and the whole country is behind you guys, do give your 100% and go for glory.”

Neeraj Chopra was ruled out of CWG 2022

The champion javelin thrower from India, Neeraj Chopra, had to withdraw himself from the 2022 Commonwealth Games due to a groin injury he sustained earlier this month at the World Athletics Championships. Chopra was placed second at the championships in the javelin throw with a final throw of 88.13m. He also became the first Indian athlete in tournament history to be placed second and the second Indian to win a medal.

Thereafter, Chopra also posted a heartfelt message for his fans on his official social media accounts after being forced to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games, which are going on in Birmingham.

The 24-year-old also expressed "hurt" over his inability to defend his championships. Chopra won the gold medal with a final throw of 86.47m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
