Watch: Aiden Markram and Andre Russell’s sensational flying catches
The catching in the match by both SRH and KKR were superlative.
Aiden Markram's Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clashed with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 47th match of the ongoing IPL 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal Hyderabad on May 4. SRH defeated KKR in their first meeting this season in Eden Gardens.
KKR captain Nitish Rana won the toss and chose to bat first. SRH pacer Marco Jansen hurt KKR badly by picking up the wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a golden duck and Venkatesh Iyer for 7 runs in his first and innings’ second over.
The dangerous Jason Roy was then brought down for 20 by Kartik Tyagi. But after that, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh each scored 42 and 46 runs, and with 24 runs from Andre Russell, KKR managed to post a respectable 171/9 in just 20 overs.
With three fours and three sixes in his knock, two of which came in one over against Tyagi, Nitish Rana was in excellent form. Aiden Markram, the captain of SRH, then intervened and forced Rana to play a false shot in the 12th over.
Markram yelled for the catch as he sprinted back while keeping an eye on the ball after Rana had whacked across the line and the ball hit the toe of the bat and flew high into the Hyderabad sky.
He managed to complete the catch properly before he hit the ground and celebrated with his teammates.

Andre Russell takes a brilliant judged diving catch to send back Abhishek Sharma
SRH began their chase in style as Mayank Agarwal hammered 18 in 11 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, but fell to Harshit Rana in an attempt to continue with the hitting. Much was expected from Abhishek Sharma, who had played brilliantly in the last game.
He looked good in his knock of 9 runs, even hitting a boundary to boot for, but the Shardul Thakur bowled a shortish delivery at his body and in an attempt to flick it over the square leg boundary, Abhishek only managed to top-edge it high in the air.
Andre Russell ran in from the deep backward square and judged the steep catch perfect and took it despite falling forward to ensure it is grasped safely.
