Shubman Gill missed India's opening game against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

India suffered a big blow when in-form opener Shubman Gill was diagnosed with dengue and missed the opening game for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia. Later, he didn't travel with India for the second game on Wednesday and was hospitalised due to a fever. It left the team with few options.

Ishan Kishan opened with Rohit Sharma against India but bagged a golden duck. And if he fails in the coming game as well, it will be a big headache for India. So if India needs a backup for Shubman Gill, they will have to find the available resources. Here we will talk about the three batters who can be ideal replacements for Shubman Gill if he gets ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

3 Ideal replacements for Shubman Gill if he gets ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad:

Ruturaj Gaikwad was part of the first two ODIs against Australia just ahead of the World Cup. He opened in both games along with Shubman Gill and did a decent job. Even in Asian Games 2023, Gaikwad looked in good nick. India might prefer him as a replacement for Gill because Gaikwad is also a trusted player like him. He scored 71 runs against Australia in the first ODI recently.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal:

Another in-form opener that India can choose is Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-hander has been in great form since he made his debut in international cricket. Jaiswal has already scored a hundred in the test and T20I for India. He hasn't got chances in the ODI format to make a debut, but with the form he is in, he can make the most of the opportunity if he gets a chance. Jaiswal can also provide a left-hand option in India's top-order.

3. Shikhar Dhawan :

When it comes to the ICC tournaments, Shikhar Dhawan has been one of the best performers for India over the years. The left-hander hasn't been in India's scheme of things for almost a year now, but as Ben Stokes returned for the World Cup, if Dhawan can get the same chance, it will surely increase India's chances, and the top-order will look more formidable.
