3 Indian cricketers who skipped Ranji Trophy 2023-24 despite getting a warning from BCCI

According to reports, BCCI recently asked all centrally contracted Indian cricketers to participate in the Ranji Trophy.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not happy with central contracted players skipping the Ranji Trophy and focusing solely on preparing for the Indian Premier League. Miffed with players’ approach, The BCCI decided to give stern warning and asked players to play in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. The BCCI is looking to make a mandate of playing at least 4-5 Ranji Trophy games before IPL.
Despite a stern warning from the board, there are a few big names who decided to skip the Ranji Trophy encounters. Ranji Trophy 2023-24 is almost at the business end. Ranji Trophy 2023-24 quarter-finals round will begin on 23rd February. Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final will begin from 10th March. Venue for the final is yet to be decided. Let’s have a look at the 3 Indian players who skipped Ranji Trophy 2023-24 despite getting warning from BCCI.
Here are the three Indian cricketers who skipped Ranji Trophy 2023-24 despite getting warned from BCCI:
1. Ishan Kishan:

Indian wicket-keeper opted out of the South African tour citing mental fatigue and since then, he has been out the action. Ishan Kishan, who was spotted training with the Pandyas, was asked to play in the Ranji Trophy and make himself available for the selection back in international cricket. Kishan still hasn’t played a single game in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He also skipped the final league game of Jharkhand in the ongoing season. According to a few media reports, Kishan is likely to be seen in the DY Patil tournament.
2. Shreyas Iyer:

Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer was ousted from the India test squad for the final three matches against England. Shreyas managed to score only 104 runs in the first two tests before being dropped by the selectors. According to some reports, Iyer complained of back and groin pain following the second test in Vizag, but the player hasn’t reported to NCA nor the BCCI has released any statement regarding the same, which makes it clear that he has been dropped from the test side.
Iyer, who has BCCI’s Grade B central contract and earns INR 3 crores for the same, was also mandated along with other centrally contracted cricketers to play in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, but he didn’t appear in Mumbai’s last league round game.
3. Deepak Chahar:

All-rounder Deepak Chahar is also away from the Ranji Trophy and he has not played a single game after T20I clash against Australia in Raipur in 2023. Deepak Chahar skipped the final games of T20I series against Australia and also had to skip the South African tour due to ill-health of his father. Deepak Chahar is still away from the action and likely to skip the entire Ranji Trophy for Rajasthan.
