India faced a disappointing 22-run loss against England at the Lord’s.

The Indian Cricket Team would be gutted with the way they performed in third test of the five-match series against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Despite winning the six sessions, they went on to face a disappointing defeat, and this surely would hurt them for a while.

India faced a poor 22-run loss as the match went down the wire with England winning the game in the last session. For the majority of the game, the Shubman Gill-led side was in the driver’s seat. But the hosts clinched the crunch moments and sealed the game.

It was a game of fine margins as England clinched the win after hard fought five days. There were a lot of areas of concern for the Indian team, and had they worked better there, it’s fair to say it would’ve been the visitors who would’ve taken the 2-1 lead in the series.

ENG vs IND: 3 reasons why India lost the third test at Lord’s, London

1. Allowing England’s lower-order to score crucial runs in the first innings

India, who were asked to field first, had a terrific outing with the ball. Fast bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj troubled the opposition and left them reeling at 271/7 in the first innings. However, they failed to take the last three wickets as Jamie Smith, who got dropped by KL Rahul, and Brydon Carse slammed fifties to take England’s total to 387 runs.

2. Failing to take the lead in the first innings

Another major reason behind India’s loss at the Lord’s was their inability to take a lead in the first innings. They were placed pretty well, especially when KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were batting together. The duo stitched 141 runs before the keeper-batter got run out just at the stroke of lunch. Following that, the lower-order got out early start as well and they scored as many as England did.

3. Batting failure in the second innings

India had a terrible outing with the bat in the second innings. They just had to chase 193 runs, and many backed them to win the match. However, in the last session of the fourth day, they lost four wickets and came under massive pressure. Despite that, the chances of India winning were high as KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, along with three all-rounders, were yet to bat.

But, the fifth morning brought them the same result as they lost wickets in clusters. Although Ravindra Jadeja (61*) tried hard, he couldn’t take his team home as India lost the game by 22 runs.
