Three teams who will target to buy Mitchell Starc in IPL 2024 auction
Mitchell Starc confirms his participation in the next season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
Indian Premier League has probably been the biggest cricketing platform for cricketers around the world. That is the reason that every big name takes part in this competition every year. And now veteran left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc, who last played in the IPL in 2015, has confirmed his participation in the next edition of the league.
Starc made his IPL debut in 2014 and played two consecutive seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The left-arm pacer feels that playing in the IPL will be excellent preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. Hence, he has decided to play in the league next year.
And if it happens, the next season will be more grand, and a number of IPL franchises will look to rope in the superstars. Here we will talk about three IPL teams that can enter the bidding war to sign the left-arm pacer if he features in IPL 2024 auction.
1. Chennai Super Kings :
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings won their fifth IPL title, beating Gujarat Titans in 2023. On the other hand, Dhoni will be back leading the team next season, and he and the franchise will look to retain their title. In doing so, they are likely to go for Mitchell Starc. The left-armer will surely help them fill the missing link in their bowling attack. Since Dwayne Bravo retired, CSK has been in search of an overseas bowler who can take wickets in powerplay and death overs. And Starc has been doing it for years.
2. Royal Challengers Bangalore :
Starc was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore for two consecutive seasons. And he was Virat Kohli's weapon of destruction. The stats suggest that Chinnaswamy Stadium is a very tough place to bowl for the bowlers. But Starc has an economy of just 7.17 in 27 IPL games for RCB at that venue. Bangalore franchise will look to get their former star in the team back to give their team a solid bowling option. If it happens, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Mohammed Siraj will make a deadly trio.
3. Mumbai Indians :
Mumbai Indians suffered badly in 2022 but did well in 2023 and finished third. But it's been three seasons since MI won the IPL. One of the prime reasons for their consistent failure is the bowling attack. Jofra Archer was not available in 2022, and then Jasprit Bumrah didn't play in 2023. Archer still has doubts about his participation. In that case, MI can surely go after Mitchell Starc. The deadly pacer is all Mumbai needs at the moment. He can do what Trent Boult did for them. With Bumrah, the left-arm pacer can prove to be a nightmare for the batters.
