Moreover, they are instrumental in maintaining the sport's prestigious image, preventing unsportsmanlike conduct, and overseeing the decision review system (DRS) to guarantee accurate decisions. Alongside these responsibilities, they manage the logistical aspects of matches, ensuring smooth operations. Today, during Asia Cup clash between India and Nepal at Pallekele, Javagal Srinath, a distinguished member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel, is taking on the role of match referee for his 250th Men's One Day International.

4. Javagal Srinath (250 matches):

Javagal Srinath became fourth ICC Match Referee to officiate 250 or more Men's ODIs during Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Nepal at Pallekele. Before becoming a match referee, Srinath had a successful cricket career, taking 236 test wickets and 315 ODI wickets, including a World Cup final appearance in 2003. He transitioned to an ICC match referee role three years later, joining the elite ranks alongside Ranjan Madugalle, Chris Broad, and Jeff Crowe as the fourth to reach this impressive milestone.

3. Jeffrey John Crowe (315 matches):

Jeffrey John Crowe, a former New Zealand cricketer, represented his nation in test and ODI cricket between 1983 and 1990. He also contributed to first-class cricket by representing South Australia and later Auckland. Since 2004, Crowe has served as an ICC match referee, overseeing an impressive 315 matches in this role.

Brian Christopher Broad's contributions to English cricket span a wide spectrum of roles, from player to broadcaster and cricket official. Notably, as an opening batsman, he made his presence felt in 26 Test matches for England, notching up six centuries. Moreover, he played a part in 34 one-day international matches. Since 2004, Broad has taken on the important role of match referee, where he's administered an impressive 349 matches.

Deshabandu Ranjan Senerath Madugalle, a former Sri Lankan cricketer, currently serves as the chief of the ICC match referees' panel. He represented Sri Lanka in international cricket from 1979 to 1988. Since 1993, he has been an ICC match referee, overseeing a remarkable 391 matches, setting a record for the most matches officiated by anyone in this role.
