India have announced their squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Tuesday, as India announced their squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup, there's a mix of seasoned veterans and fresh talent. Among the familiar faces who have battled on the grandest cricket stage before are Kohli, Rohit, Jadeja, and Shami. They've been there, done that, and are still going strong.

But there's also a group of players in Indian squad who've had a taste of World Cup in recent editions. Axar Patel, who was part of the 2015 squad but didn't secure a spot in the playing XI, is eager for redemption. Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya all gained valuable experience in the 2019 World Cup. Their past encounters with the intense World Cup environment have shaped them into seasoned campaigners. Together, they form a squad that carries both the wisdom of the old guard and the energy of emerging talent, making India a formidable contender in the upcoming World Cup.

Now, let's shift our focus to the four Indian cricketers from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 squad who have participated in the most ODI World Cups.

1. Rohit Sharma (2 - 2015, 2019) :

The current captain of Indian cricket team had a chance to be part of the 2011 World Cup squad, but his underwhelming performance with the bat led to his exclusion. However, Rohit Sharma bounced back strongly and secured his spot as an opener in the One Day International (ODI) team. He participated in the subsequent two World Cup events, during which India reached the semi-finals but couldn't go further.

Rohit has an impressive track record in World Cup matches, boasting six centuries in 17 innings, with five of them coming in the 2019 edition of the tournament. In total, he has amassed 978 runs in World Cup matches, establishing himself as a key player on the global stage.

2. Ravindra Jadeja (2 - 2015, 2019) :

The emergence of all-rounder Jadeja came just before the 2011 World Cup, but his relative lack of experience in international cricket prevented him from making the cut for the tournament. However, in the years that followed, Ravindra Jadeja firmly established himself as an indispensable part of the team. His defining moment came during the 2019 World Cup, where his explosive innings of 77 runs in the semi-finals against New Zealand nearly propelled India into the finals.

In the World Cups, Ravindra Jadeja has featured in 10 games across both editions, contributing with both bat and ball. He has accumulated 134 runs in six innings and claimed 11 wickets, solidifying his reputation as a valuable asset in the World Cup context.

3. Mohammed Shami (2 - 2015, 2019) :

Mohammed Shami has played a pivotal role for team India in high-stakes tournaments, including the World Cup and World Test Championships. He stands out as India's leading wicket-taker in the last two editions of the World Cup. Across two World Cups, he has showcased his skills in 11 matches, taking 31 wickets, even achieving a memorable hat-trick against Afghanistan in the previous edition.

As the upcoming World Cup in 2023 approaches, Shami will once again play a vital role for Indian team.

4. Virat Kohli (3 - 2011, 2015, 2019) :

Virat Kohli, the only active Indian player from the 2011 World Cup-winning team, captained India during the 2019 World Cup. Over three World Cup appearances from 2011 to 2019, Kohli scored 1030 runs in 26 matches with an average of 46.81, featuring 2 centuries and 6 half-centuries. Under Kohli's leadership, India reached the 2019 World Cup semi-finals but faced defeat against New Zealand.

In his role as captain, Virat Kohli led India during the 2019 World Cup, maintaining his status as the sole active player from the 2011 World Cup-winning squad. Across his three World Cup campaigns from 2011 to 2019, he showcased his batting abilities in 26 matches, accumulating 1030 runs at an impressive average of 46.81, which included two centuries and six half-centuries. Despite his leadership, India experienced a heart breaking loss in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals against New Zealand.
