Top 5 players who shockingly remained unsold at WPL 2026 mega auction

Deepti Sharma became the costliest played at the WPL 2026 mega auction.
On Thursday, the Women Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction had some record-breaking deals for players, whereas some franchises took a few surprising calls. Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma ended with a highest deal of INR 3.2 crore by UP Warriorz.
UP Warriorz entered the auction with the biggest purse (INR 14.5 crore), and they showed it with some big signings. A total of 276 players, including 82 overseas players, came under the hammer.
Five franchises signed a combined total of 67 players, and 209 players were unsold. The unsold list had some really big names, which we will talk about here below.
List of Top players who shockingly remained unsold at WPL 2026 mega auction
5. Sabbhineni Meghana
Indian opening batter S. Meghana was another surprise name on the unsold list. The 29-year-old is known for her aggressive starts and has had a pretty good WPL career. She played for Gujarat Giants in 2023 and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2024 and 2025.
She scored 168 runs at 33.60 and a strike rate of 112.75 when RCB-W lifted the WPL trophy. Overall, she has scored 302 runs at an average of 23.23, but she was unlucky to go unsold at the WPL 2026 auction.
4. Saima Thakor
Indian capped pacer Saima Thakor was another player to go unsold at the auction. She has been India’s backup pacer when it comes to international cricket.
She has also been part of the WPL for the last two editions but couldn’t have much success. That may be the reason that she couldn’t attract any buyer and was unsold for her base price of INR 30 lakh.
3. Tazmin Brits
South African opener Tazmin Brits has had a remarkable 2025. She has the joint-most centuries (5) and is the fourth-highest scorer in 2025. In T20Is, she is currently ranked no. 6 in the world. She is a dasher at the top who can put the opposition under pressure.
But she wasn’t lucky, as most of the teams had their opening choices, which went against her. She went unsold with her base price of INR 30 lakh.
2. Alice Capsey
England’s all-rounder Alice Capsey is one of the top T20I all-rounders in the world. She adds value with bat and ball and is an asset to any team. She had a great WPL career for Delhi Capitals. Capsey played three consecutive seasons for them.
In 43 games, she took 40 wickets at an economy rate of 7.24 and has scored 405 runs at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 133.66. But these stats didn’t help her. However, she will be on the radar of the teams in case of any injury.
1. Alyssa Healy

The Australian captain Alyssa Healy going unsold was the biggest surprise because she is a perfect ambassador for T20 cricket. A leader who can keep the wicket and is an aggressive opener—all comes in this package.
But she went unsold for a price of INR 50 lakh. She has scored 428 runs in 17 games at an average of 26.75 and a strike rate of 130.48. But her injury-prone history could be one reason the franchise didn’t show interest in her.
