Abhimanyu Easwaran was not picked in India squad for the test series against the West Indies.
Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran admitted that he is disappointed to not make his test debut despite being part of the squad since the last few years. However, he was quick to add that he is grateful to be part of the Indian Cricket Team.
Abhimanyu Easwaran earned his maiden test call-up in 2021 and since then he has been picked in the squad for multiple series, but never got a chance to make his debut. Easwaran was also part of the Indian team that toured England for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
He was expected to make his debut during the series, which comprised five matches, but he couldn’t as Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair got the nod ahead of him. The 30-year-old was then dropped from the squad for the ongoing home test series against the West Indies Cricket Team.

During an interview with Revsportz, he responded to his long-awaited test debut. The opening batsman noted that while it was very disappointing, he was grateful to be part of the national team.
“I’m honestly very grateful to be part of the Indian team. Since childhood, it’s been my dream – to wear the Indian jersey, contribute in matches. So, even being part of the squad means a lot. Of course, not getting a chance has been disappointing,” he said.
“Every player wants to be on the field, representing the country. But it’s not something that’s in my control. What I can control is my preparation – working on my game, improving every day, and being 100% ready when the opportunity comes,” he added.
Easwaran, who represents Bengal in domestic cricket, admitted that it does hurt to be part of the playing XI.
“Yes, it does hurt sometimes. You put in all the effort, train hard, and the dream is to be in the middle – to perform, to contribute to wins. But I’m fortunate to have a solid support system: my family, friends, and coach. They help me stay grounded and motivated. Right now, I’m in a good headspace and looking forward to the Ranji season,” he added.
Meanwhile, Easwaran, who recently played for Rest of India team in Irani Cup 2025, is now gearing up for Ranji Trophy 2025-26, which will commence on October 15. Bengal, who are part of Elite Group C in the tournament, will play their opening game against Uttarakhand at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
