Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century in 12 balls against Bengal in SMAT 2025.

The sensational Indian left-hander Abhishek Sharma registered a 12-ball half-century for Punjab in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. Playing against Bengal, Abhishek smashed 148 runs off 52 balls and in this his blitzkrieg of a knock, the youngster levelled his mentor, Yuvraj Singh’s record of a 12-ball fifty in t20 format.

Yuvraj scored a 12-ball fifty against England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, an innings where he also hit six maximums in an over against Stuart Broad. His protégé Abhishek Sharma has done something similar, continuing his explosive form in the shortest format of the game and set the stage on fire in the domestic tournament.

Bengal were blown away by the brilliance of Abhishek Sharma in the third round of fixtures in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. Winning the toss, captain Abhishek chose to bat first on the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.

The 25-year-old opened the batting with Prabhsimran Singh, another key member of Punjab’s batting unit. The duo started the first innings on an explosive note, and that momentum continued till the 12th over. By then, Punjab had already crossed the 200-run mark.

Bengal got their first breakthrough when they dismissed Prabhsimran, who added 70 runs to his tally off 35 balls. But this blow did not have any impact on Abhishek as he continued with his steamrolling. His terrific knock helped Punjab post a mammoth total of 310/5 in the first innings.
