Abhishek Sharma declared fit to play IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026 clash, confirms Suryakumar Yadav

Abhishek Sharma missed India’s last game against Namibia in T20 World Cup 2026 due to stomach issues.

Indian Cricket Team are set to clash with Pakistan Cricket Team in their next match of T20 World Cup 2026. The encounter will be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15.

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma grabbed a golden duck in the first encounter against USA. However, he did not take the field in the second innings of the match due to a stomach issue. Later, it was discovered that Sharma had a stomach infection and was also admitted to the hospital in Delhi.

Although the left-handed batter was discharged from the hospital ahead of the previous game against Namibia, he was rested in the match as a precaution. In his absence, Sanju Samson was added into the side as an opener. However, he got out for 22 runs and could not make a mark with the bat.

Suryakumar Yadav gives update on Abhishek Sharma

On Saturday, Indian captain Suryakumar gave an update on Abhishek’s addition ahead of the next game against Pakistan. Indian captain said that Abhishek is fit to be part of the match.

Speaking on Abhishek Sharma in a press conference, Suryakumar Yadav said: “If Pakiatan captain wants… we will play him.”

Abhishek has been a regular opener for India since the last two years. He also rocked with his performances in the clashes against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 and won the Player of the Series award. Hence, his comeback will come as a big boost for the Suryakumar Yadav & Co.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan have played two matches each in the tournament so far and won both of them. They have four points and grab the top two spots in the Group A points table.
