Spinner Abrar Ahmed returns, Pakistan announce squad for 2nd test vs Bangladesh in Rawalpindi

Abrar Ahmed is likely to return to Pakistan’s XI for the second test.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced their squad for the final match of the two-match test series against Bangladesh on August 28. Star spinner Abrar Ahmed, who was not part of the first test, which the hosts lost by 10 wickets, has been added to the Pakistan squad for the second test match.

The board has also included Kamran Ghulam and speedster Aamir Jamal in the squad for the final test match against visitors Bangladesh. The second match between the two nations will be played from August 30 to September 3 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has rejoined the squad ahead of the second test

In a press release, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Aamir Jamal’s availability for the final test match of the series will remain subject to fitness clearance. On the other hand, ace speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was released from the squad after the conclusion of the opening test to be with his family on the occasion of becoming a father, has rejoined the squad. 

“Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam were released from the Test squad before the start of the first Test match and featured for Pakistan Shaheens in a four-day game against Bangladesh ‘A’ at the Islamabad Club from 20 to 23 August. Also, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was released from the squad at the conclusion of the first Test, has rejoined the squad on Tuesday evening,” the PCB said in a release.

“Meanwhile, Aamir Jamal, who had been released from the squad to work on his fitness at the NCA, has been recalled. Aamir’s participation in the second Test will remain subject to fitness clearance,” it further added.

Pakistan suffered a shambolic defeat against Bangladesh in the first test in Rawalpindi. Bangladesh won their first-ever test match against Pakistan. Bangladesh also became the first team to defeat Pakistan by 10 wickets in their backyard.
